Dongzi and Dawei were college friends. Both of them lived on tight budgets. Dongzi was thin and weak, with a sallow complexion, while Dawei was tall and sturdy, with a healthy, rosy face. One day, Dongzi couldn’t help but ask Dawei, “How do you always have such a healthy, glowing complexion?”
Dawei smiled and said, “Actually, it’s all because of the nourishment of love. Understand? I suggest you find a girlfriend you like, and you’ll be glowing too!” Dongzi sighed and said, “Actually, I’ve had someone I like for a long time, but… I don’t have the courage to confess.”
Dawei called him a “dummy,” and the next day, he helped Dongzi pass a love letter to the girl. However, the girl didn’t respond. Dawei then had Dongzi order a bouquet of roses with the love letter attached, and the flowers were delivered directly to the girl. Unfortunately, there was still no reply from her.
Dawei thought for a while and said, “You should try to figure out what she likes. Buy her something she likes, and that might win her over.” After some research, Dongzi discovered that the girl had recently fallen for an expensive brand of perfume, but she hadn’t bought it because it was too costly. Dawei was excited and said, “Great! The day after tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. You can give her that perfume in person. I’m sure it will move her!”
The next day, Dongzi spent almost all his savings to buy the perfume. Dawei then went to intern off-campus with peace of mind. A month later, Dawei came back and was shocked to see Dongzi. Dongzi had gained weight, his face looked fuller, and he had a healthy glow.
“Wow, you’ve been nourished by love!” Dawei exclaimed. “Tell me, how did you win her over with that perfume?”
To Dawei’s surprise, Dongzi angrily replied, “I was rejected harshly. Just as I was about to leave, the lunch lady walked by, and in my anger, I gave her the perfume. Since then, the lunch lady has been taking extra care of me…”
