Heinz may have finally put an end to the age-old dispute of where to keep a bottle of ketchup: in the cabinet or the fridge.
One of the most famous ketchup brands is Heinz; therefore, they know a lot about the renowned red sauce.

Some people say it’s fine to leave it in a cupboard, but I think that once it’s been opened, it needs to go from the cabinet to the fridge, where it will survive longer in the cold.
Since no one could agree on what the right answer was, Heinz ultimately decided to do something about it after more than 2,500 individuals in Britain responded to a social media survey about where they would like to store the food.
Heinz says there is a right answer, and that is… in the fridge.

Olivia Lennon, a spokesperson for Heinz, told the Daily Mail that there was only ever one right answer: our ketchup has to be in the fridge.
We know that a lot of people who like Heinz Tomato Ketchup have been keeping it in the cabinet, but we do suggest putting it in the fridge after you open it.

And for those of you who say this is new knowledge, you clearly haven’t been reading the label on the bottle, which says, “For Best Results, Refrigerate After Opening.”
The product is offered without refrigeration, which is good as long as it hasn’t been opened because the acidity keeps it from going bad.
But it’s better to place it in the fridge after you’ve broken the seal. Once it’s opened and exposed to air, the contents can lose their color, taste, and freshness.

If your ketchup starts to smell sour, that’s a sure sign that it’s gone bad. It can stay good in a cupboard or pantry for a while.
After this, you should examine for mold or discoloration more carefully. If you find any, you should throw it away.
You might also be asking why most restaurants don’t keep their ketchup in the fridge between guests. The answer is that they have a lot of customers and use a lot of ketchup every day, so the bottles normally only last a few days before they run out.
So now you know.
