Worst Countries For Tourists To Visit Revealed

A list of the worst countries in the world for tourists to visit has been revealed.

Recent reports from the U.K. and the U.S. show that most people like to travel abroad.

Some surveys indicate that over 80 percent of the population enjoys getting away for a week or two outside of their country.

But according to the Daily Mail, more than 97,000 Google visitor reviews of 100 of the most visited cities in the world, found which spots are the most disappointing.

While Instagram travel influencers make some of the worst destinations look whimsical, it’s hard to know where you’re really going to make some nice memories.

But to help you choose, experts have compiled a list of all the places to avoid, including some surprisingly popular destinations.

Cancún, Mexico, bagged the top spot on the unflattering list, with 14.2 percent of travellers leaving negative reviews.

Despite its turquoise waters and luxury resorts, visitors most commonly complained about ‘inflated prices, aggressive vendors, and a lack of authenticity.’

In at number two with 12.2 percent of negative reviews, was Antalya in Turkey.

It’s often referred to as the country’s ‘tourism capital,’ and is home to many luxury hotels and restaurants.

But it seems that over-commercialization, overcrowded beaches, and subpar customer service have put the nail in the coffin for some travelers.

In third place is Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic.

‘Generic, expensive, and repetitive,’ are just some of the words visitors have used to describe the tourist hotspot.

Pushy street vendors were also cited, as one TripAdvisor reviewer said: “A country that takes every dollar you have, then charges you to leave.

“Everywhere we went, somebody was forcibly trying to sell you something.”

Despite being rich in history, Beijing, China, also made the list, with 11.2 percent negative reviews.

One person on TripAdvisor warned: “Expect crowds. Nothing you can do to avoid that.”

With 10.6 percent negative reviews, Orlando, Florida, also made the cut.

Despite being home to one of the biggest and most whimsical theme parks in the world, tourists noted that ‘high costs, long queues, and extreme heat,’ put them off.

In other spots were Mumbai, India, and Honolulu, Hawaii.

The first city was dubbed ‘overwhelming’ by visitors, while some consider the second as not worth the sky-high prices.

One person wrote on Reddit: “Mumbai Traffic is no joke, so try to plan your within-city journey during off-business hours.

“Calculate your travel in hours and not in km or miles.”

Johor Bahru, Malaysia, Kyoto, Japan, and Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, completed the list’s Top 10.

The Mexican city was picked out because of its crime and rising costs.
