White House Issues Statement After Donald Trump Health Concerns

A health update has been issued regarding President Donald Trump after concerns were raised.

At 79, Trump was the oldest president to take office in January, though his predecessor, Joe Biden, was older at 82 when he left.

In recent weeks, Trump’s tariff trade war has taken over the headlines; however, there has been a slight shift in focus to his physical well-being.

Amid such concerns, a White House physician has released a report on the 79-year-old’s health.

A former report in April was, at the time, the most informative account of Trump’s health since he returned to the White House in January.

White House physician U.S. Navy Captain Sean Barbella reported that the president is in ‘excellent cognitive and physical health.’

“President Trump exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State,” the report read.

Following the April health assessment, new concerns emerged in July when photographs showed visible bruising on President Trump’s hands and apparent swelling around his ankles.

These images, captured during various White House events and public appearances, sparked renewed speculation about the 79-year-old president’s health status.

On July 17, the White House confirmed that Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a condition affecting blood flow in the leg veins, per the BBC.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt explained that Trump underwent comprehensive vascular testing after experiencing mild swelling in his lower limbs.

The condition, described by medical experts as ‘benign and common’ per PBS, particularly in people over 70, occurs when leg veins fail to effectively pump blood back to the heart, causing blood to pool in the lower extremities and leading to swelling.

Dr. Scott Cameron, a cardiologist at the Cleveland Clinic, noted that chronic venous insufficiency affects approximately 1 in 20 U.S. adults and is often seen in people who spend significant time on their feet, are older, or carry excess weight.

The bruising on Trump’s hands was attributed to frequent handshaking combined with his use of aspirin as part of a cardiovascular prevention regimen.

Dr. Sean Barbabella confirmed that the bruising was ‘consistent with minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking and the use of aspirin.’

But in the most recent development, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed ongoing health concerns during a press briefing on August 12, 2025.

When questioned about Trump’s management of his chronic venous insufficiency diagnosis from July, Leavitt stated that the president has made ‘no changes’ to his lifestyle.

“Look, you see the president every day,” she said. “He’s moving, he’s working. There have been no adjustments made to his lifestyle,” reports the Mirror.

Leavitt emphasized that Trump remains under constant medical observation and promised to seek additional information about potential availability of his physician for further health updates.

She noted: “The president remains in excellent health,” and stressed the administration’s commitment to transparency regarding Trump’s medical status.

The statement comes as Trump, now 79, continues his demanding presidential schedule, including international summits and domestic policy initiatives, despite his recent health diagnosis.
