Donald Trump Declares ‘Public Safety Emergency’
The president spoke out at a press conference after declaring a ‘public safety emergency’ in America.
In an extraordinary news conference just yesterday (August 11), Donald Trump described a U.S. state as ‘out of control.’
The Republican leader revealed that he would be taking over the police department and deploying National Guard troops in the area.
“We’re here for a very serious purpose,” the 79-year-old urged.
“Something’s out of control. But we’re going to put it in control very quickly.”
He announced ‘historic’ action as he detailed the plan, and warned Americans that the situation had become a ‘public safety’ emergency.
Attorney General Pam Bondi, who stood beside him during the conference, said: “We are going to use every power we have to fight criminals here.”
Trump revealed that the country’s capital has been ‘taken over’ by ‘violent gangs and bloodthirsty criminals.’
He added: “I’m announcing a historic action to rescue our nation’s capital from crime, bloodshed, bedlam, squalor, and worse. This is Liberation Day in D.C., and we’re going to take our capital back.”
800 National Guardsmen will be deployed throughout Washington, D.C. to begin with, but how long they will be there is a decision the president will take the lead on.
He noted that police in the capital had be letting criminals and homeless people do ‘whatever the hell they want.’
However, contrary to the president’s claims, crime comparisons from Washington’s Metropolitan Police Department show that overall crime in D.C. has decreased by 7% since last year.
The homeless were also targeted in the bombshell statement.
Trump added: “We’re going to be removing homeless encampments from all over our parks, our beautiful, beautiful parks, which now a lot of people can’t walk on.
“They’ve been very dirty. But we’ve already started that.
“We’re moving the encampments away, trying to take care of people.
“Some of those people, we don’t know how they even got there.”
Comparing Washington to other capitals, he said: “If our capital is dirty, our whole country is dirty and they don’t respect us.”
He promoted the conference across his social media platform Truth Social, alongside a caption which read: “The homeless have to move out, IMMEDIATELY.
“We will give you places to stay, but FAR from the capital.
“The criminals, you don’t have to move out. We’re going to put you in jail where you belong.”
He even declared that the city had become one of the ‘most dangerous’ cities in the world, despite the statement not being grounded in any data or evidence.
Speaking about the troops, the president added: “They’re there getting rid of the people from underpasses and public spaces from all over the city.
“There are many places that they can go, and we’re going to help them as much as you can help.
“But they’ll not be allowed to turn our capital into a wasteland for the world to see.”
